While you don’t mention the specific type of vehicle that you take home, we’ll assume that it being a truck means it is a heavy good vehicle that exceeds 3,500kg. In that case, you should not have to pay BIK (Benefit In Kind) when driving the vehicle home at night.
The Revenue website for Ireland states: An employee may not need to pay BIK on a van if it exceeds a certain weight. The van must have a gross van weight (gross laden weight) of more than 3,500kg for this exemption.
