Why is it more expensive to tax a van privately with the same engine size as a car and why don't the government seem to want people to have commercial vehicles for private (recreational) use?

Hi Adam,
The bizarre situation seems to have evolved from the old way of doing things rather than designed to discourage people from choosing to buy vans etc. There’s no other explanation for it
