Citroën Ireland has announced that, like buses, all three of its new Berlingo, Dispatch, and Relay line-ups will arrive at once.
The new Berlingo range will start at €27,770 and get new front styling, a new grille, and a more upright look throughout. This new style is also complemented by a new colour option called Kiama Blue.
Inside, the Berlingo’s dashboard has been redesigned and improved from an ergonomic standpoint, while Citroën says that the quality of the materials used has also improved. If you’re buying an LX Plus model, it will come with the My Citroën Drive Plus electronic suite, which includes a ten-inch touchscreen including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel now features the new Citroën logo (in which the famed double chevrons are now enclosed in an oval shape). All three trim levels — LX Plus, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus — include advanced emergency braking, electronic stability control, ABS, driver attention assist 3 (DAA3), and driver and passenger front, side and curtain airbags. Enterprise models come with a high-mounted rear reversing camera.
The Berlingo is available with a three-seat bench layout in the front, and there are two available vehicle lengths — 4.40 metres and 4.70 metres. The total capacity available is 1.40 cubic metres, and the maximum load weight is one tonne (or 780kg for the electric version).
Improved cabin for the Citroen Dispatch
Larger than the Berlingo and with a €36,195 starting price, is the new Dispatch. This now comes with new bumpers, a new grille, and new lights, plus the new Citroën badges. The dashboard comes with new trim and more storage compartments, while the steering wheel now has integrated controls for the cruise control, telephone, and radio. The standard safety kit for the Dispatch now includes automatic emergency braking with forward collision warning, driver attention assist (DAA3), ASR, and ABS with driver and front passenger airbags.
The Dispatch is available in two overall lengths: 4.98 metres and 5.33 metres. Its maximum load volume is 6.6 cubic metres, and its maximum load weight is 1,275kg. Despite all that space, the Dispatch still has a tight turning circle of just 11.3 metres.
Big-capacity Relay
Finally, there’s the big Relay, which starts at €35,295. As with the other vans, it gets new front-end styling, including new LED lights and a body-colour grille. Inside, there are new digital instruments and a touchscreen, plus a dashboard with improved ergonomics and upgraded steering wheel, gearbox controls, and door trims.
The Relay is available with a choice of standard (3.45 metres) or long (4.04 metres) wheelbases, three lengths, three roof heights, and six different body styles, from panel van to chassis-cab, with maximum load volumes from ten to 17 cubic metres.
Citroën Managing Director Colin Sheridan commented: “It is exciting to see a refresh of the Citroën light commercial line-up for 2024. The New Citroën Berlingo, Dispatch, and Relay proves to be a welcome evolution of the range by our Citroën dealer network and customers alike. The ever-popular Berlingo Van remains in the top five vans in Ireland in 2024; I have no doubt this refresh will only accelerate its growth. All models are now available to test drive at Citroën dealerships nationwide.”
