The GMC Utilities Group has added 34 new Mercedes-Benz Sprinters to its fleet of vehicles. A mixture of the new 315 medium wheelbase and 316 long wheelbase models, the latest fleet additions are equipped with numerous safety features, including Active Brake Assist and Crosswind Assist. At the same time, reversing cameras should make life easier for the operators.
Powering the new fleet additions are a mix of 1.9- and 2.1-litre engines with 150hp and 163hp, respectively and rear-wheel-drive transmissions. The Sprinter 315 standard wheelbase measures 3,665mm, while the Sprinter 316 long wheelbase is 4,325mm.
The latest fleet addition was supplied to GMC by Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer MUTEC on the Naas Road in Dublin. Prior to delivery, all 34 vans were finished in the company’s red, blue and yellow logo.
Expressing his delight at their decision, Jim Fitzpatrick at MUTEC sales said, “Mercedes-Benz and MUTEC are proud to introduce these new vans to such a high profile customer as GMC, with their successful and distinguished history.
“Sprinter has gained a reputation as an impressive all-rounder for any business sector, bringing new levels of intelligent connectivity and superior comfort to the market,” he added.
Since beginning operations in the late 1970s, GMC has been involved with some of the most significant civil and engineering projects in Ireland and the UK and has recently reported year-on-year growth. With a headquarters in Ballycoolin, the company currently employs approximately 350 people.
