VW Commercial Vehicles Ireland has been supporting the work of the Foundation since 2014

When we think of cancer care, we tend to think of chemotherapy wards, radiotherapy equipment, and hospital beds. However, there is another tool that has been hugely useful in the treatment of cancer in Ireland for the past ten years—the Volkswagen Caddy van.

Ten years fighting cancer together

That may sound a touch trite, but it’s true. Ten years ago, in 2014, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Ireland began supporting the Marie Keating Foundation, one of Ireland’s leading cancer charities whose work touches thousands of people every year.

Visible reminder

That work involves Marie Keating cancer nurses travelling around the country, visiting and helping those suffering from cancer and their families. To do that, for ten years and counting, the Marie Keating nurses have been using those VW Caddy vans. The vans don’t just offer transport—they’re also a visible reminder of the benefits of early cancer diagnosis and the importance of follow-on care.

Incredibly proud

Kim Kilduff, Head of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Ireland, said: “We are delighted to mark the 10th year of our relationship with the Marie Keating Foundation and are honoured to have our vehicles associated with such a great cause.”

Liz Yeates, CEO of the Marie Keating, said she was “incredibly proud” to celebrate a decade of partnership with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

She added: “Their unwavering support and donation of Volkswagen Caddy vans over the past ten years has been instrumental in supporting our specialist community nursing service, enabling them to travel to communities all around Ireland, raising awareness about the signs and symptoms of cancer and providing essential support to those affected by cancer.

“We are immensely grateful for Volkswagen’s continued support. Without the Caddy Vans, our nurses would not be able to reach those remote and often underserved communities bringing their all – important message of early detection to thousands of people throughout the country every year. We cannot thank Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Ireland enough for its steadfast commitment and look forward to many more years of partnership together.”
